Магнитная Аномалия (Magnetic Anomaly) is a punk-rock group from Russia. It all began in the city of Grubkin - city best known for the world-famous Kursk Magnetic Anomaly (KMA), the largest magnetic anomaly on Earth. Though their demo album is said to be created with the help of just a standard pc, this was enough for one of their songs (V Glazax) to become a major hit on Belgorod radiostations and them to become famous. In 1999 they performed live for the first time and since then they have been playing various music festivals in Russia. It is then that they meet up with members of well known russian bands such as Sergeyi Mazaev (group Moralniy Codex, Moscow) and Yury Chaler (group Mummiy Troll, Vladivostok) who helped them record their first album "Oblaka v Pomade" that came out in the summer of 2001. Since then Anton Vartanof (vocalist, lyricist and guitarist of the band) has moved to Moscow to be more in touch with the contemporary music scene of Russia. After an inexplicable silence of the band for almost 2 years, they are back with a new album called "V Izumrudah" (out in June 2006 - CD Land Records).
Critics often referred to their sound as "intellectual punk rock" in their debut album.
