そろばん
そろばん (Soroban) was a japanese visual indies rock band. Their songs are upbeat rock songs; sometimes quite heavy with screaming vocals, distorted guitars and pounding drums.
The members of そろばん had already started making music by the time they were in their early teens. In April 2002 the four of them decided to start a band together, named Primrose. Despite their young ages -when they started they were between 14-16-, they managed to gain quite a bit of success. Their line-up this time was 龍寺 (Ryuuji) on vocals, 夢人 (Yumehito) on guitar, たつひ (Tatsuhi) on bass and ゆうや (Yuuya) on drums. While being Primrose, they also had a second guitarist named UZ.
Two years later, in April 2004 they changed their name to そろばん and their first performance as そろばん was at the Ikebukuro Cyber, and on this night they distributed their first single "白黒ラジオ".
They continued to perform in many various events and around late 2005 they joined the label Danger Crue (once the label of L'arc en ciel as well) and started their own sub-label on it: Sky Crue records.
Unfortunately, after spring 2006 it became very silent around the band. They had still a few concert scheduled, but there was no news about any new releases or any new concerts.
In July 2006, the band announced on their official website that they would disband in August, and their last concert would take place at an event on August 2nd.
Not much later, 夢人 filled the second guitar position in the famous indies band 彩冷える. Until January 2007, the other band members seemed to have ceased any activities in the music business. But during the month, 龍寺 and たつひ formed ゾロ, together with a new guitarist named タイゾ (Taizo).
ゆうや officially joined them again in June 2007. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
