杉真理
Masamichi Sugi (杉真理) (born March 14, 1954, Fukuoka, Japan) is a Japanese singer-songwriter, composer, and music producer. From an early age, Masamichi was a dedicated fan of The Beatles, who inspired his early sound of 'POP'N ROLL' (ポップンロール), described by Sugi as a perfect blend of pop and rock. After forming and performing with several amateur bands during his high school years (1969-1972), Masamichi entered the Yamaha Popular Song Contest, where he met fellow musician Motoharu Sano (佐野元春). In 1977, he released his debut single '思い出の渦/トゥナイト' in collaboration with Mari & Redstripes, together known as 杉真理&レッド・ストライプス. Since then, Masamichi Sugi has collaborated with/been a part of the following groups: THE HOSPITAL, BOX, Piccadilly Circus, Kaoru Sudo (須藤薫), ALOHA BROTHERS, MONKEY FOREST BAND, and Kiyonori Matsuo (松尾清憲) as well as handling production duties for countless other artists in Japan. Masamichi has released 20 solo singles, 17 solo albums, an instrumental solo album, and four solo compilation records as well as hundreds of collaborations with others. Read more on Last.fm.
