西村知美 (Nishimura Tomomi) is a Japanese actress, talento, and former idol singer.

Nishimura Tomomi got her start in show business when she won the award for the 1st Annual Miss Momoko Club Grand Prix contest in 1985. A year later, she debut as an actress in films and television doramas, in variety shows, and as a singer with the first single, "Yumeiro no Message", released on March 1986.
Her gentle, demure beauty and soft dreamy voice captured the hearts of many young people and she quickly developed a strong following. Tomomi hit the top ten with "Pocket ni wa Taiyo" and quickly followed it with "Blueberry Jam", "Tenshi no Yubisaki", and "Ai ni Desperate" to name a few.
Her rising popularity garnered her roles in both TV and movies and culminated with the definitive symbol of Idol status - "TomoRose", a shop in the idol shopping street Takeshita (Hey! Stop snickering!) in Harajuku. This solidified her immortal idol status along with Wink, Yui Asaka, Nori-P, and Akina Nakamori among others who also had shops in Takeshita. Tomomi followed up with numerous hits including "Symphony no Kaze", and "Kiss yori Amai Kaze".
Although she has since retired from the concert scene, Tomomi continues to this day in both the small and big screens.
In 1997, she married former CHA-CHA member Nishio Takumi and gave birth to the couple's first daughter in 2003.
She later participated in the Honolulu Marathon for the charity program 24 Jikan Television.
