윤상
Yoon Sang (b 10/05/1968) is South Korean electro-pop artist/composer and producer. He began his musical career as a bassist in a band supporting a pop singer Kim Wan Sun, then started his career as a composer until he released his solo debut album "The Shadow of Parting" in 1991.
His musical experiments throughout the career has set new trends in the Korean pop music scene. His contributions include, popularising synthpop with his typical style dubbed as "minor ballad" and dance electronic in the 90s, introducing latin/world music genre in a form of popular music in the turn of the new century. One of his studio album "Renacimiento" reflects his interest in World music, as it consisted of remakes of his songs from the previous albums, sung by French, Brazilian and American vocals with lyrics remade by the vocals themselves.
He also produced albums for 강수지, 이소은, Tim, BoA and 동방신기. His is currently signed with OdeMusic, a subsidary of SM Entertainment.
Recently he is working on a new studio album showcasing glitch/IDM genre as a member of an electronic band mo:tet. His music consists of melancholic composition, clean-cut sounds through programming, a hint of European/Latin music and experiments with sampling, electronic sound effects.
