1969 Armstrong
Founded by Calle Thoor and Cristian Ekman (also members of Bolywool) in 2005 in Alingsås, Sweden due to their love of British shoegaze and American indie rock.
Their first self-released EP, The Great Exposition EP, came out in July 2005 and was recorded in only two days. It was a mix of spacerock, neo-psychedelia and alternative rock/pop. The following year, Postcard EP, revealed a darker, less psychedelic, and more shoegazy and introspective side of 1969 Armstrong.
The latest EP, Salient Night, was released on myspace.com in April 2007. Again, rather than threading water, the band tried out new grounds with inspiration from krautrock, newgaze and 60ies jangle, but with their introspective p.o.v intact. The band site acts such as Spiritualized, Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, and Buck amongst other as key influences.
The band is currently based in Alingsås and Stockholm, Sweden.

1969 Armstrong - Salient night EP (self-released)
This latest release from 1969 Armstrong is influenced by some of the better bands from the golden age of shoegazing. Lead track "Something on yer mind", with its primitive drum beat, is reminiscent of early Jesus and Mary Chain and the more contemporary A Place To Bury Strangers. Standout track "Devil in me", with its assured swagger, recalls Ride in one of their poppier moments and also brings to mind early Britpop. With this, their third EP, 1969 Armstrong have proven themselves to be at the forefront of shoegaze-influenced Swedish bands.
