57Chevy
Imagine yourself standing in Black Rock Desert. Standing by the side of the road waiting for a ride. The scorching sun burns your tired head. You wonder how you wound up in this hellhole in the first place...
You look to the east. Nothing but an empty road. You look to the west and see the same picture. All of a sudden you see a cloud of dust appear on the horizon. Finally your luck has turned. As it approaches you see a car drive towards you at high speed. Strangely enough the weather has somehow changed. Dark clouds are trailing the car that is approaching.
By the time the car comes to a screeching halt at your feet the sky has turned pitch black with huge thundering clouds. Slowly the window rolls down. You can’t see who’s driving this strange car, but decide to get in anyway…
Congratulations you’ve just been picked up by the '57 Chevy.
Founded on the desert floor of Nevada's Black Rock Desert back in October 1997 when Roland was cruising this dry lake with his '57 Chevy rental car. Next day, a new world speed record smashed the sound barrier on that same desert floor.
There the sound of speed met the speed of sound.
57Chevy is a Rotterdam based band with a combined musical history of about half a century. Since its start the band has grown through some line-up changes to the current four piece. Each member has been around the block a couple of times, music-wise.
Supports have been done for Queens of the Stone Age, Nebula and Terra Firma. Those gigs were well received by critics and public.
When 57Chevy practices the walls begin to tremble, neighboring bands start to complain and stuff starts to fall from the ceiling.
When 57Chevy soundchecks the technicians start to complain to turn the volume down and the treble up.
When 57Chevy records the producers search for their earplugs.
