Alps is the solo project of Chris Hearn, from Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia and now living in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. Alps plays a mixture of pop and experimental music, using electronic, electric and acoustic instruments, drawing inspiration from Australia and New Zealand's rich history of pop, folk and noise via labels like M Squared, Xpressway, Terse Tapes, Flying Nun, Spanish Magic.
Alps has released three full length albums, 'Alps of New South Wales', 'Alps of the World', and 'Alps of New South Whales', three EPs, and splits with Snowfield, Frase+Bri, and Jasmine Loop Control. Alps has released music on the labels Sound & Fury, Beat is Murder, Shriek Sounds, Teepee Magic, and Wilting Flower.
Alps continues to tour locally around Australia and New Zealand. He has toured Europe twice, and the United States three times. Further tours are expected to follow the release of the third album in the Alps of NSW trilogy, Alps of New South Wails, due out late 2010/early 2011. Read more on Last.fm.
