Ameerah
Astrid or Ameerah is a Belgian singer/ tv presenter who raise to fame in 2003 as being one of the participants during the talent show 'Idols'. She did not win the show, but she did manage to be one of the ten finalist. As the songs she sang were quite disco'ish she got a record deal and appeared in early 2004 in one of the quarter finals of the Belgian selection show for the Eurovision Song Contest with 'Don't You Stop the Music'. She did not win the ticket to Istanbul but she did have a huge hit in Belgium.
Astrid did get quite a lot of attention in the gossip papers as well as she had a relationship with one of her fellow idol contestants Brahim. Early 2005 the two split up.
The second single 'However' was released later that year and after this single, Astrid and her record company went separate ways as they could not come to a compromise for the style of music Astrid wanted to sing. The singer instead concentrated on another music project together with three other ladies, calling themselves the Twinsband. Until today Astrid is still member of this band.
Between her music schedule, Astrid is also a presenter on Youth channels TMF and Jim Tv.
In 2007 Astrid announced to be working on a new project called 'Ameerah' referring to her Tunesian roots. While working with famous producers and travelling quite a lot to the United States, the project is taking quite some time but middle 2009 the first single of Ameerah is a fact. 'The Sound Of Missing You' is the first single out of a debut album which will be released later and is already a big hit in the states, giving Ameerah her first top ten single in the American Dance Charts.
