Angy
Ángela María Fernández González (born Palma de Mallorca, 5 September 1990) Spanish teen pop-punk rocker Angy leveraged a memorable appearance on the international reality show Factor X into a recording contract, debuting in 2008 on Sony BMG with a self-titled full-length album. Born in 1990 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, Angy was only 16 years old at the time of her appearance on Factor X -- just barely old enough to compete in the 16-24 age category. Though she ultimately lost the competition to María Villalón, she did well enough to score a recording contract with Sony BMG. On her 2008 self-titled debut album, she collaborated with producer José Ramón Flórez and a band comprised of Javier Catalá (guitar, arrangements, programming), Sergi Flores (keyboards), Pino Rovereto (drums), and Luigi Palazuelo (bass). "Sola en el Silencio" (composed by Thomas Salter and Sabelle Breer) was chosen as the lead single and became a major hit, propelling Angy up the charts along with it. The album notably features a half-dozen English-language covers, including well-known hits by Nirvana ("Smells Like Teen Spirit"), Dover ("Devil Came to Me"), Britney Spears ("Baby One More Time"), No Doubt ("Just a Girl"), Michelle Branch ("Everywhere"), and Cindy Lauper ("Girls Just Want to Have Fun").
