Austin Leeds
Austin Leeds is that kind of modest musical genius who doesn’t mention his amazing body of work or long, successful career when you first meet him. Instead he’ll drag you into his studio to get your opinion on his next track, always striving to innovate. And with the huge number of quality tunes he churns out, you could be in there for a while.
Austin first rose to prominence with a string of hits on John Digweed’s Bedrock label in 2000, and quickly started seeing his music everywhere. It wasn’t long before Leeds' music had found a honored spot in the record bags of all the DJ heavyweights like Sasha , Victor Calderone , Danny Tenaglia, Erick Morillo, Tiesto , Deep Dish, John Digweed, Sander Kleinenberg, Paul Van Dyk, and Armin Van Burren just to name a few. In one year alone, Austin had numerous tracks played on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix by the likes of Deep Dish, Murk, Sharam, Armin Van Burren, and Seb Fontaine.
Austin's travels have brought him around the globe and back again, performing in the biggest and best clubs all over the world. In 2008, Austin saw his first mix compilation release on Made Recordings entitled Dirty Sound Volume 2 - Love Machine, which included nearly all of his own original productions, as well as a second compilation entitled “Nervous Nitelife – Las Vegas” released on the seminal NYC dance imprint Nervous Records. Push the envelope and break barriers is his studio ethos, and this uncompromising outlook has driven him to produce hits like "Shake Me”, “Rock Me," "For the Pills," Acid Disco" and "Only You," as well remixes of Starkillers “Scream” & “Discoteka” which climbed to the #1 spot on Beatport’s coveted top 100. Labels like Stereo Productions, Nervous Records, Star 69 and Toolroom have all taped in wanting Austin to lend his signature sound on remixes while 2009 ushered in the release of his first artist album on Ultra Records titled "Sound System".
His prowess in the studio has not only resonated with fans and some of the best labels in the land, but also caught the attention of some of the biggest artists in electronic music. The list of collaborations reads like a who’s who in the dance music scene and credits him working alongside such artists as Paul Van Dyk, Avicii, DJ Chus, Ivan Gough (TV Rock), Rene Amesz, Starkillers, Matthew Dekay, Mac Zimms, and Markus Schulz.
No rest for the wicked, Austin has just released "Rubadub" and " In the Club" on the Dutch imprint Spinnin Records, with a follow up EP set for release in September. With another album on Ultra Records entitled “Killers & Rockers” coming out soon (a side project that he worked on with fellow artists Tom Hangs and Starkillers), the future looks bright and Austin shows no signs of stopping his relentless ascent to the top
