Avoid One Thing
Avoid One Thing was started as a side project by former Mighty Mighty Bosstones' bassist Joe Gittleman. The Boston-based group's first album, titled "Avoid One Thing," was released in 2002 on Side One Dummy Records. This album was written and recorded almost solely by Gittleman. Gittleman assembled a band sometime during the recording process (consisting of Amy Griffin, formerly of the Raging Teens, Paul Delano, formerly of Darkbuster, and the late Dave Karcich, formerly of the Pilfers and Spring Heeled Jack) with which to tour and play his music. Before the release of the band's next album in 2004, the band went through several lineup changes. Dave Karcich was replaced by John Lynch after his death due to a sudden brain aneurism and the band continued to tour, playing such 2003's Warped Tour. Later, Delano left but the band continued as a three-piece. The trio returned to the studio and released "Chopstick Bridge" on May 4, 2004. This album reflected the combined efforts of all three band members and sounds vastly different from their first in many respects; Amy and Joe even split lead vocals on a few tracks. After the release of this album, the band toured until February of 2005 before going on hiatus. Since that time, Amy has been playing guitar for Darkbuster and Joe Gittleman has moved to Los Angeles, along with other former BossToneS Dicky Barrett and Tim "Johnny Vegas" Burton. Paul Delano underwent emergency surgery several months ago (as of November, 2006) and a series of benefit shows from 10-27-2006 through 11-11-2006 were held. The band promises to reunite at some point in the future, though their official web site has been taken down and no official announcements have been made. Read more on Last.fm.
