Beata Hlavenková
Beata Hlavenková is czech jazz pianist arranger and composer. She studied composition in classical music at Janáčkova conservatoire in Ostrava. In 2004 she succesfully graduated at University of Massachusetts, in Amherst, USA and has gained Master´s degree in “Composition, Jazz Composition and Arrangement”.
In the meantime, Beata is a leader of her own jazz trio with her original music, where the doublebass plays Rastislav Uhrík (Vertigo quintet, Lenka Dusilová band) or Petr Dvorský (Emil Viklický, James Harris etc.) and the drums Pavel “Bady Zbořil“ (František Kop Q,JAR etc.). Her musical activities reach even far beyond the area of jazz and classical music.
Beata was a member of group „S‘aight“ where, together with guitarist and composer Patrik Hlavenka, play their original music and released the cd „S’aight“ in 2004. She is a part of a new configuration of a very popular singer Lenka Dusilová and also in a new trio project of bassist Jaromír Honzák „Face of the bass“ together with Roman Vícha on drums.
In summer 2005, Beata was a member of winning formation „S’aight and Vertigo connection“ at the prestigious international festival in Montreux. This group continues as „Open Sextet“. In December 2005, they performed together with special guests at Open Sextet‘s Czech first night – the world’s front jazz musicians – the trumpet player Ingrid Jensen (who also gave a concert with Beata’s trio) and the saxophone player Rich Perry.
