Ben Foster
Born in Liverpool, UK, Ben is a composer, orchestrator and conductor. He is best known for his work as orchestrator and conductor on the BBC series Doctor Who, as well as his work composing for the first three series of the BBC’s Torchwood, which earned him 3 BAFTA nominations in the “Best Music” category.
Ben is also known for his arrangement and conducting work on films such as Prometheus and The Grey, and for artists such as Gary Barlow, Peter Gabriel and Hayley Westenra. He was responsible for orchestrating and conducting music (composed by David Arnold) for the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.
Ben has recorded or performed live with various orchestras and choirs around the world. In the UK, he has worked with the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Crouch End Festival Chorus, among others. He has also performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra as part of the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular, and the Czech Film Orchestra.
He has had 3 albums released by Silva Screen Records - 2 of which featured his work on Torchwood; Torchwood: Children Of Earth was composed solely by Ben, whereas Torchwood, consisting of music from Series 1 and 2, was a joint project with composer Murray Gold.
