Betsy
There are at least three artists with this name.
1) BETSY is a Welsh singer-songwriter signed to Warner Bros.
Born in Pembrokeshire, she was brought up on a rural goose farm which made her hopes of becoming a musician a “far-away dream”. She later decided to enroll in a course in Womenswear Fashion Design in London’s Central St Martins art school as a back-up plan of sorts; within a few months, she was presented with an internship in Balenciaga and later spent two years working full-time at the fashion house.
After returning to the UK to pursue her true passion for music, a number of self-produced demos secured BETSY a management deal, and she continued to write and produce demos in her brother’s caravan (which also appears in much of her single artwork).
Following record deals with Warner Bros. and Columbia, her debut single “Fair” was released in January 2016 with the similarly-titled EP following in March. A string of singles (including “Lost & Found”, “Wanted More”, “Waiting”, “Little White Lies” and “You Won’t Love Me”) preceded her self-titled debut album released on September 29, 2017.
2) When Bitch's S&M-themed heavy metal failed to reach commercial success, the band softened their sound and image, and recorded under the name of lead vocalist Betsy (Weiss). Their sole release, the 1988 Betsy album, also failed to ignite the charts, and the band reverted to their previous moniker, and sound.
3) Garth Brooks' half-sister Betsy Smittle released the solo album Rough Around the Edges under the name Betsy in 1994.
