Blackwolf
The soulful, hard and heavy rock'n'roll sound of BlackWolf, along with their energy and determination, has seen the band's successful ventures grow from the small intimate stages of their local Bristol scene in 2010 to those of the main stage at O2 Academy Newcastle, Nottingham's Rock City, Manchester Academy, O2 Academy Islington and many more.
BlackWolf first rose to the greater public's awareness in September 2010 when they drove through some 12,000 bands to win a spot at the Surface Unsigned Festival Final at the O2 Arena, London. In 2011 they were invited to play at Europe's biggest motorcycle and rock music festival The Bulldog Bash. In January 2012 BlackWolf welcomed the new addition of Scott Sharp on lead vocals. With a new sense of focus and ambition the band hit the new-year hard by supporting Roadrunner Record’s signing Revoker in Bristol during their 2012 headline tour. As the year progressed it not only saw BlackWolf make their second appearance at The Bulldog Bash, but also watched them support JettBlack in Cardiff on their headline tour and win a spot at the HardRockHell VI festival. BlackWolf were hand-picked from over 900 undiscovered UK bands and whittled down to just 21 of the very best to compete in the final of the Highway To Hell 3 competition at The Classic Grand in Glasgow. They then went on to win their spot at HardRockHell VI and succeeded to win over the festival crowd leaving reviewers, supporters and the industry at large marking them out as one of the best new Rock’n’Roll bands to watch.
2012 also saw BlackWolf make their first official release with their début EP 'Taking Root'. The record was co-produced by former Skindred guitarist, Jeff (Death) Rose and was recorded in March of 2012 at Junkyard Studios, Newport, Wales. The EP was then later released in early June the same year to great critical success gaining wide international radio play and highly positive reviews from magazine, internet and national press.
Along with an intensive touring schedule and other notable supports for bands such as Voodoo Six, Electric Eel Shock, Voodoo Johnson and Slam Cartel, BlackWolf’s exposure has been building fast and has recently seen them support The Union on their 2013 'The World Is Yours' UK headlining tour.
With comparisons being made between them and successful peers; Wolfmother, Rival Sons, The Answer and Alter Bridge amongst others, BlackWolf draw their sound from a multitude of inspirational wells; ranging from the great Led Zeppelin, Muddy Waters, AC/DC and early Guns & Roses to contemporary giants Black Stone Cherry and Avenged Sevenfold.
