Cal Harris Jr.
Keyboardist Cal Harris Jr. is back with a new CD 'Shelter Island'. Much like his first release 'Inside Out', 'Shelter Island' demonstrates Cal's quest to create music that is not only heard but felt. Complemented by the work of saxmen Marion Meadows, Elan Trotman, and newcomer Keith McKelley, Ricky Lawson (Yellowjackets) on drum and fellow indie artists Joel Del Rosario (guitar) and Darryl Williams (bass) it's a solid and well crafted project with just the right amounts of romance, seduction, and funk.
Cal's earliest exposure to music took place literally in the company of legends.
As the son of Grammy-nominated sound engineer Calvin Harris, Cal Harris Jr. grew up wandering the halls of the renowned Motown Studios in Los Angeles. Not surprisingly he became a very sought after sound recording engineer, programmer and producer, working with such music monsters as Earth Wind and Fire, Lenny Kravitz, Prince, Whitney Houston, and Beyonce. His first creative endeavor was 'Inside Out' and 'Shelter Island' is his sophomore project.
Cal Harris Jr lists Stevie Wonder and Pat Metheny among some of his biggest musical influences. He was born in Los Angeles, CA and currently lives in Phoenix, AZ. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
