Ethiopian-born musician/director, Caleb Makonnen, is an innovative artist hailing from the northern division of Dallas, Texas. Born in a musically-structured family, Caleb was exposed to a variety of music rather quickly. Growing up to the soulful tunes of James Brown to the country stylings of James Taylor, Caleb learned, at a young age, that music has a lasting impression on the audience. Fascinated by his discovery, he turned to the music industry for assistance.
At age 12, Caleb recorded his first album, with producers, 4EPeople, entitled, Priceless. The album consisted of styles resembling from Daft Punk to Mos Def. The album was a masterpiece in Caleb's eyes and the ears of others. This prompted Caleb to become more involved in the music business and further facilitate his knowledge of different media outlets.
After researching different media techniques and styles, Caleb became involved in three outlets: Music, Poetry, and Film. To incorporate all them into one style , Caleb Mak and a group of colleagues formed the entertainment enterprise, Lightyear Entertainment, LLC. The company's focus comprises of a pleasurable combination of music, poetry, and film. After signing an indie deal with, The Cover Inc., Caleb finally made an effort to put material on the internet for the first time. With the help of sites such as, MySpace and YouTube, Caleb has created an atmosphere of unified pleasure through the styles of music, poetry and film.
Caleb Mak's new project, L.O.V.E. (Life of Virtuous Ecstasy), is scheduled to release in 2009. "The album is going to be crazy. The title should explain itself. I am definitely trying to make this album fun, yet informative at the same time," stated Caleb at a DaVerse Lounge in Dallas. "The people will like it.
