Cecilia
There are at least two artists called Cecilia.
1) Cecilia is a Classical crossover singer, who originally comes from Norway. Known for her famous rendition of Amazing Grace.
She has released 7 albums, 2 by Universal Music, and performed worldwide, selling several hundred thousand albums with virtually no mainstream publicity.
2) Cecilia (born Evangelina Sobredo; October 11, 1948 - August 2, 1976) was a Spanish singer/songwriter. Due to her father's work as a diplomat, her first language was English and lived in several countries during her childhood, such as Portugal, Israel, United Kingdom or United States. She decided to relocate to Spain in the 1960's, where she got her degree in Law Studies before pursuing a career in music.
Her first single was called Expresión, a joint collaboration with fellow singer/songwriters Nacho Sáez and Julio Seijas released in 1970. A year later she got a solo deal with CBS and released her debut album, Cecilia, in 1972, which included songs in both English and Spanish.
In 1973 she released her sophomore album, 2, which saw the singer exploring darker sounds and themes. In 1975 she represented Spain in the OTI Music Festival where she came in second place with the song Amor de medianoche. That very same year she released her third and final album, Un ramito de violetas, whose title-track became a huge hit and remains her biggest single to date.
She died in a car accident on August 2, 1976. She was 27.
