Chiki Liki Tu-a
Chiki Liki Tu-a is the well-known Slovak alternative/experimental band with a typical sound with ironic and funny lyrics.
History:
In June 1994 in a rehearsal room in the city of Prešov, Slovakia, three boys with minimal knowledge of musical instruments got together. The group consists of Martin Višňovský, Marián Ivan and Peter Šima. In September 1995, after their first attempts, a new concert programme began to emerge and by that time a keyboard player, Tomáš Višňovský had joined them. CHIKI LIKI TU-A was on its way.
December 1996 Vthe recording of the first unofficial demo record at the rehearsal room, consisting of 15 songs. In 1997, 25 gigs played, recording of a demo at Prešov Slovak Radio. The first presentation in the media - gaining many new contacts. Shooting the first video clip to the song "GDO JA". Tomáš Paĺo - trombone, flute player entered the band. In February 1998 , recording of the first audio cassette album ' NEZATVÁRAJ MILAN DVERE' at their own expense. Very positive reviews both in Slovakia and the Czech Republic followed. Played more than 30 gigs in Slovakia, including the festivals, Pohoda and Revište. Ĺubo Petruška got to be lead guitar in the band.1999 - many gigs, playing famous festivals in Czech, - Bohnice, Rock Horní Lhota, Pohoda Revište and so on. The year 2000 recording album, which again appeared just on audio cassette "BUDEŠ MUSEL VLASY NA BLOND PREFARBIL." About 50 gigs in clubs and at festivals both in Slovakia and Czech followed. Then recording of the video clip to the track "LALA". August 2000 - Maňas, band member, leaves. December - the first Slovak tour, 15 gigs.
2001 - devoted to concerts - 11 gigs in 7 days. First tour in Hungary (with the band Másfél) followed by an invitation to the Sziget festival in Budapest. First gigs in Poland. Pipo - a founder of the band leaves.
2002 - at the beginning, Slovak - Czech tours with the Hungarian band Másfél, resulting in a rise in popularity both in Czech and Hungary, an invitation to the Trutnov Open Air festival in Czech and an invitation to the Sziget festival in Budapest, one of the greatest European festivals.
2003 - June , succeeded for the first time in playing gigs in France, Germany and Belgium. Performed twice in Germany. From 23 July recorded a new album for Millenium Record. Summer - festivals at the Sziget, Trutnov, Pohoda and Hodokvas festivals, followed by many other festivals
2004 - after the incredible and at the same time incomprehensible success of the song "LASKA MOJA DE SI" - followed by nominations for the AUREL critics award, "NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR", "THE COVER OF THE YEAR" Completed recording of video clip for tracks "ĎAKUJEM" and "MONTE CARLO". Played more than 120 gigs - the most successful in Sziget, Freital, the marvellous Taskirat Festival in Skopje
Year 2005 - nomination for the AUREL award "VIDEO CLIP OF THE YEAR" for the track "LASKA MOJA DE SI.". Tomáš Paľo leaving the band. Chiki Liki Tu-A sign a contract with Sony / BMG for another 2 albums. The new album - `Dvojkilometrový jeleň` (`Two-kilometers long deer`) - will be released October 31st 2005.
2006 – nomination for the AUREL award „The best alternative album of the year“. Since march we have made slovak-czech tour with Horkýže Slíže. In june we had small tour in France and in summer Sziget, Rock for People, Trutnov, Hodokvas...
