Cliff Coenraad
From Cliff himself the following description:
Writing biographies really sucks! So sue me if it sucks, send your complaints to info at cliffcoenraad dot com or just sit this one through. Anyway, for some of you who are interested, I can tell you some things about me...
My mom told me that I was born in Tilburg, The Netherlands, on April 27 in 1982. (You do the math) I think I was at the age of twelve when I got interested in music, before that time I was only watching cartoons like “The Transformers” and “Mask” on Sky Channel.
Ok, at this point the plot thickens. Make sure you are still interested; skip the next four paragraphs otherwise.
I never had the money to buy my own gear, so I was always practicing at my friend’s place, whose dad, pretending to be Santa Claus, gave him some dj gear. During my high school period I was always at my friend’s place, mixing some old cd’s and records. Remember the time when you were REALLY happy if you had pitch control on your decks? That small little round thing with +6/-6% pitch... I sure did! From learning the art of dj’ing, something in me went berserk, because I wanted to produce the records too, instead of only playing them on that crappy turntable. From there on I went on a journey, searching for something were I could really express my creativity.
Well, I found a music production program that suited me. Years passed by, and I made many different kinds of music. I can tell you that I am influenced by many different kinds of music, from techno to classical, or from punk rock to hip-hop. To keep productions fresh and original I think every producer should be aware of different music styles. It can add some nice surprising elements to tracks. Next to the large scale of music style, I also dig cool turntablism, the true art of dj’ing! Then, at some point, I thought it was time to send my music to some labels. It was scary that first time; just like that time with... never mind!
To continue my story… It was during 2004 when I got the chance to remix a track called “Let me” from Solid Haze & MileZ. Some days after I remixed the track they brought me the news that Dark Noize Recordings, in Germany, approved it. So there it was, my first production to be released late 2005, “Solid Haze & MileZ – Let me (Astatic Rmx)”. (A-side baby!). Also, back then, in 2005, I did another remix; this time it was “Wave & Glider – Coffee (Astatic Remix)”. It was released in the beginning of 2006, and it was well received with great dj support from Marco V, Judge Jules, Johan Gielen, Yves Deruyter, E-Craig, among many others.
Now, while writing this bio in the second quarter of 2006, there is still more to come. My first solo release will be released on the United Recordings sub label Dedicated called “The Hollow Man”, a phat techtrance peaktime banger backed up with the funky techtrance track “Cascada”. Many more plans, many more idea’s, some bad-ass house projects like ‘Mulika”, driving techno projects like “Cliff Coenraad”, and some cool collabs with some other dj’s and producers. Stay updated and keep checking my house and techno sets, there are some cool things to come!
Had enough? Well... your luck, this is the end! I hope you haven't had something better to do then reading this lame bio of mine, if so, I'm sorry! ;) Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
