Clou
Clou is a rock band formed in Prague, Czech Republic in 2001. The current members are Lukáš Vyhnal a.k.a Lukemo (vocals), Petr Vaško a.k.a Petrock (guitar), Radek Tomášek a.k.a Rae (drums) and Pavel Bureš a.k.a Rocky (guitar). Former members are Hubert Topinka (guitar), Bugsy (bass), Štěpán Farkas (bass). To date, the band has released 3 studio albums, 1 EP and a couple of music videos. They are signed to Sony BMG Music Entertainment.
Their debut EP, "First", was released in 2004 and the three songs from the EP later made their way onto several compilations, and a number of soundtracks to skateboard, snowboard or BMX videos. However, the real breaking point in the career of Clou came in March 2005, when their debut album, "Postcards", was released on Sony BMG. The album was recorded in Prague studio Bellatrix with the help of singer Dara Rolins on the song "Postcards", and vocalist Kryštof Michal from Support Lesbiens on "A Place". The album immediately caused a sensation throughout Czech media. The highly acclaimed album made it into the TOP 80 sales charts at number 10 within three months of its release, and the first single "Island Sun" topped the chart of the most frequently played songs on Czech radio stations. The "Island Sun" video was to become even more successful. Directed and produced by one of Czech's foremost directors of photography, Richard Rericha, it first conquered the Czech video charts, and in May was shown in a prime time slot on MTV European and put into rotation, opening the door to the band abroad.
On June 5th, 2005 Clou successfully performed with Green Day as their support band at a Prague concert in Sazka Arena.
Their second album, "Clou", was recorded in 2007 with producer Djordje Eric and Austin Lucas, who helped them develop their English lyrics. Their third album, "For Tonight", was recorded in the summer of 2008 in David Koller's Cox Studios, Boris Carloff's Chick Sound, Professional Sound Studio and Golden Digital Studio and co-produced by Amak (ex bass player for Sunshine). The album was released in October of the same year.
Their music is inspired by a wide range of musical genres and a varied mix of more or less well-known international bands such as Jimmy Eat World, Foo Fighters, Green Day and Yellowcard.
