The band was formed in 1999 by guitarist/vocalist Hiroshi Sasaki and drummer Nobuyuki Ajima who met while attending college. They began experimenting that summer as a twosome. September of that year, Chikako Ishida was added to the line-up on bass, rounding out the trio. They gigged around Tokyo before recording their first demo in 2000.
They released EP Hush & Vane February of 2001 followed by their first full album, 00203, under the Daizawa label that Spring. Their next full album, db, released Spring 2002, marked the beginnings of a cleaner, more minimalistic sound. Four years later they released the long-awaited Goodbye 44th Music which met with positive acclaim.
