Conor Linnie
Hailing from Bray, Co. Wicklow, Irishman Conor Linnie's songwriting style blends together a driving rhythm with ornate melody lines to create a complex folk sound. Currently doing a Phd in English Literature in Trinity College, his lyrical style draws from a variety of influences, from writers such as Herman Melville and Ernest Hemmingway and the poetry of W.B Yeats to the songs of The Temptations.
Starting off on the Greystones punk music scene where he shared the stage with musicians who would go on to form now well known acts such as Heathers and Enemies, Conor has grown & developed his own fully fledged musical style of 'wild ecstatic life loving folk'.
The 16th of March 2013 will see Conor release his debut album Astray in Whelans. Astray is truly a special collection of songs that acknowledge grief and the frailty of human relationships but strive in spite of this for buoyancy. Each song is spurred by the beauty of nature, moved by passionate experiences and driven by the desire of requited love. Above all, the songs are full of energy and passion in the vein of the Romantic poet William Blake who declared 'Energy is eternal delight.'
