DAITA
Daita was born on June 19, 1971 in Tokyo. He was friend with Hideki and Natin (ex-Siam-Shade) from childhood. Since DAITA was tall, he seemed to be really gifted for sports, like soccer, swimming, baseball or basketball. His first instrument was piano, as he began to learn how to play it when he was 6, then stopped when he was about 14. He took part in several piano contests and obtained really good results. Daita was a very dynamic boy when he was young, a true brawler at the time. Fan of Wrestling and Ramen (Chinese noodle Soup) he also has a strong affection for manga and Japanese animation. Among his favourites are “Dr. Slump”, and “Urusei Yatsura” .
During high school, he joined, with his friend Natin (Ex-Bass player of Siam shade), a tennis club. But one day NATIN didn't c:ome to training: as the captain of the team, DAITA had to leave his team-mates to look for his partner: he found him repeating with his rock band. Since that day, Daita had been fascinated with the guitar, dreaming to have one too. He was offered one when he was 16, for his high school exam. And this is where Daita's adventures begin…
He took part in many guitar contests which he always won. At this point, he thought that he could make his own way, and become a professional music player. Daita, Hideki and Natin formed at this time a small
band, called POWER. Daita and Hideki were living in the same student room, until the day a great argument bursted between the two friends, which forced Daita to go leave this room and this band.
Daita had also begun a solo career, making money with his talent for other small rock bands. But that is not enough for an artist to survive and live with his music. He started some odd jobs then, as a barman, or model. It's only in July 1993 that he joined the new band formed by his old comrades : Siam Shade , first as a guest musician, then as a definitive member from 1994. This year, JUNJI also joined the band to replace AA (Ex-Siam Shade’s drummer). Siam Shade became Major in 1995. After 7 years of career as a major band, they decided to split in November 2002. Consequently, Daita began a new solo career.
Influenced by famous and various rock bands like RUSH, BOW WOW, Dream Theater, or King' S X,… , DAITA could develop an excellent diversity when he played.
His story took an unusual turning point in July 2002:
As some famous guitar players already estimated Daita a lot, Kyoji Yamamoto (Ex Bow Wow) invited him to play at ULTIMATE GUITAR FIGHT 3, a special concert that brought excellent rock music players together.
In 2002, he writes the original soundtrack for Volcano High, except one song ("Rebirth"): in October, he appears as a special guest at several promotional events for this Korean action movie. On December 4th, 2004, the OST of Volcano High is released: the 26 songs of this album perfectly matched the atmosphere of the movie, and through the 25 songs he composed on it, Daita shows us all the diversity he may use when he plays/composes, mixing jazzy, rock, or electro (a little as in video games) styles, ears may only love listening to this OST. (Note: this is for the Japanese release of the movie, the original Korean soundtrack and the US version by MTV have different music.)
On the same day, Daita also played a small concert at Shibuya Kohkaidoh, for the movie feature, and some other ones for the Japanese subtitled version of the movie.
On December 23rd 2002, Daita appeared for mini-lives at Shibuya Tower Record, which were offered to fans who had bought Volcano High OST album.
On June 19th 2003, the first Daita official website opened its doors.
On July 20th 2003, Daita became Kyosuke Himuro (Ex-BOOWY)’s lead guitarist, for a concert for the 15th birthday of Himuro’s career.
From August 23rd to November 23rd, 2003, Daita is once again hired for playing lead guitar for Himuro Kyosuke, on his Higher than Heaven tour.
On September 19th, 2003, he releases an independent album DIRECT CHORD. This is a project-album, only available if you ordered it on Amuse label’s website. This album contained 7 tracks, all composed by Daita. We can hear a solid guitar lead over an electro background representing Daita’s feelings. Only the 4th track remains a little more heavy-like: Handroid is remembered first because it was played for the first time for his solo at Nihon Budokan with Siam Shade, but also because he plays it using “tapping technics” from the beginning to the end of the song (tapping consists, for a right-handed guitar player, to use the right hand fingers and "tape" on the guitar cross in order to obtain a clearly hearing note).
On November 19th 2003, Daita releases his first official solo album: EUPHONY. This album is a pure wonder that was first composed on keyboards; Daita proposed here 7 splendid tracks, which would drive you into an imaginary world: Daita’s universe. Far from the electronic sounds of his older albums, Daita here shares with us all the emotions that he had kept into him, through a singing, and sometimes crying, guitar. All these sounds and music are followed by splendid violin tablecloths and piano sounds. Daita gives us a real present by adding a DVD to his album where he plays all tracks, including 2 tracks that are filmed under several views. We can thus see his playing skills, through 2 different angle-views. And on the last DVD track, we can see a small interview of the artist, where he explains how and why he composed this album.
For guitar players, on February 20th, 2004, EUPHONY's tablatures for guitar are released.
On April 3rd, 2004, Daita left Amuse in order to be his own manager, and others, opening his new Official website “D-ISM”.
On June 28th 2004, Daita played his first concert alone, at Shibuya O-East. There, he played songs from all of his three albums.
On August 22nd 2004, he once again played for Kyosuke Himuro as a lead-guitarist, for his concert at Tokyo Dome.
On September 11th 2004, a dvd of his concert at “Shibuya O-East” is released. This DVD shows the whole famous live and can be ordered by mail, through the Internet or by telephone only.
From September 19th to December 25th 2004, Daita again (and again!) was Himuro's lead-guitarist for his SOUL STANDING BY round tour.
On 6.6.2007 "Binecks - Sacred Visions" album was released. Binecks is a duo project of Daita and Keita (singer).
