Dallas String Quartet
The classical music stylings of the Dallas String Quartet has never gone out of style, unlike other genres that experience fluctuations in popularity. The musicians continue to be highly sought performers and have expanded their talents to include an electric quartet, with the distinction of being the only one of its kind in the southwest.
“The idea of adding electric instruments to our sound seemed a natural way to express ourselves more fully through our music,” said Ion Zaneca, founder and manager of the quartet.
The Dallas String Quartet has been playing together and bringing their love of music to others since its founding in 2007. The group is comprised of award winning violist and founder, Ion Zanca; cellist Gaston Colloca; and violinists Jorge Caldelari and Tatiana Glava. They perform as a traditional classical quartet, and as an electric quartet for discerning audiences. Thoroughly modern, the group’s repertoire encompasses a comprehensive array of contemporary music from Coldplay to Lady Gaga. Their newest CD, “Red,” features the group’s unique electric sound.
The music of the Dallas String Quartet is popular with those of all ages and is a favorite with audiences ranging from mall shoppers to celebrities. The musicians have performed for actors that include Jensen Ackles of “Days of Our Lives” and “Supernatural,” and Danneel Harris of “One Tree Hill.”and most recently for former president George W. Bush. Players and owners of the LA Lakers and the Dallas Cowboys have enjoyed the group’s stylings and they’re favorites of designers that include Manolo Blahnik, Jean Paul Gaultier, Stuart Weitzman and Laura Mercier.
Members of the quartet have also appeared with Amy Grant, Josh Groban, Chicago and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and were recently featured in a documentary called “Eco-Harmony,”
Dallas String Quartet has performed at a wide array of venues through out Texas and the United States, and have been featured in numerous broadcast and print media such as: The Wall Street Journal, ABC, ESPN, CW33, NBC and others.
