Dan Sultan
Dan Sultan (born Daniel Leo Sultan in 1983) is an Australian alternative rock singer-songwriter-guitarist. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2010 he won Best Male Artist and Best Blues & Roots Album for his second album, Get Out While You Can (released November 2009). At the 2014 ceremony he won Best Rock Album for Blackbird (released April 2014), which had reached number four on the ARIA Albums Chart.
Previouly, Sultan was nominated for a 2006 Deadlys Award “Most Promising New Talent”, which was followed up by nominations in 2007 for Artist of The Year and Single Release of The Year for "Your Love is Like a Song".
Dan was invited by Paul Kelly to contribute to the Kev Carmody tribute album and identified by John Butler who has funded Dan’s debut album through The JB Seed program.
Created with Scott Wilson, the debut album Homemade Biscuits is an accomplished album displaying versatility of talent with exceptional vocals that range from deep and velvet soulful yearnings to soaring heights reminiscent of Jeff Buckley. Each hook laden track finds its influence in Dan Sultan’s soulful brand of roots-blues-country rock and delivers something unique.
The Band play mainly festivals and have performed at The Falls, Queenscliff, Woodford, The Dreaming , Port Fairy , Apollo Bay and St Kilda amongst others.
