Daniel Portman
Daniel Portman was born and raised in the suburbs of Zurich, Switzerland. He fell in love with electronic music at a very young age. It was the late 90s, with all its ups and downs, when young Daniel started to test his musical abilities on an Akai2000 sampler and an old sequencer.
After a long ride of experimenting, he ended up with a bunch of tracks.
Daniel went back to his small bedroom studio, made another bunch of tracks and along the way he stumbled into the porn industry. He played in different adult movies in order to pay his rent, but in the bottom of his heart, he always knew that one day he would become a huge music producer.
In 2006 he met Chris Reece, label owner of Unreleased Digital. All the years spent in his room producing his music finally paid off. Chris called Daniel only to ask him: “Where should I send the contract to?”
In April 2007, his first EP “Backside / Evolution” was released on Unreleased Digital. Shortly after, in June 2007, his follow up EP “I never Sleep / Essence” was released.
Based on his success in 2007 he’s already a wanted name when it comes to remix requests. His version of Chris Reece’s “The Fall” has become the main mix of the successful single released through MYLO Recordings in early 2008. Further he delivered a remix for "Sultan & Ned Shepard” titled “One Day” released on Canadian label Harem and for “Joey Fehrenbachs” “Don’t wake me” on Morrison Records. He also got the opportunity to remix the classic house tune “Greece 2000” by “Three Drives” released on S2 Records.
The successful Port series goes on now: “Port 3” has been released August 8th, 2008. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
