Dazzling Killmen
Dazzling Killmen were one of the most accomplished 1990s math rock bands, combining a punk-inspired noisy ruckus with jazzy Sun Ra-type intelligence and complex arrangements. The group was composed of midwestern jazz students -- drummer Blake Fleming, guitarist Tim Garrigan, bassist Darin Gray -- and vocalist Nick Sakes. The St. Louis-based group caught the attention of Skin Graft Records, released two full-length albums, as well as several 7" singles before breaking up.
Today, its members are better known for their later projects -- like Fleming's Laddio Bolocko, The Mars Volta and Electric Turn to Me, Colossamite and Sicbay, and a collaboration between Gray and Jim O'Rourke, Brise-Glace.
