Den of Thieves
den of thieves is a punk/hardcore band from staten island, new york.
"the band is from staten island, new york. over the last decade or so, we have all played in various styles of bands in the local underground music scene. from chris and sean's experiences in the local thrash icons falter, to pasquales endeavors in the black metal band ripping christ and various pop punk bands, to seans technical and touring experience in CATTLE PRESS and most precious blood and my own experiences in the CABLE CAR THEORY, we have brought heart and a sense of fun to every band we dared to put in your face. in early 2007, "letters from the tanzerouft" will be released on germany's altin village records. this record is a great departure from our past in one sense, and a deep embrace of our past in another sense. on one hand, the music is a journey through precision and and is, stylistically, unlike any band we have ever played in. blending elements of every form of music we love, but doing so copasthetically has been a challenge. the departure from our past is this - i cant think of a single band we sound like or a style of music we really fit into. this is how i think we are really embracing our past. by refusing to catagorize or stylize, we are embracing the original punk ethic of self reliance and individualized thinking. like the BAD BRAINS and FUGAZI before us, we are growing from the true punk ethic, but doing our own thing in spite of what punk is, was, or will become. the lyrics are a journey through experience of being a little older and wiser, while refusing to let go of that spark that made us embrace the punk and hardcore scenes in the first place. with lyrical topics ranging from personal honesty, to religious oppression, to political rants and the expulsion of personal demons; and a deep heavy and ominous groove underlying all the amalgamated musical styles we put forth, i hope we can relay a sense of social foreboding, intense political distrust, and an honest look at the damaged psyche of a few everyday chaps who just want to express whats at the heart of whatever matter we are discussing."
