Derriere Le Miroir
Five years after Ralf Jesek and Kai Kampmann have done their first musical steps as NewWave-duo T:H:E (and appeared on a regional compilation), they decide to resurrect this "school-project" at the beginning of 1992. With the new name DERRIÈRE LE MIROIR (inspired by Lewis Carroll's novel 'Through The Looking-Glass') and with Nicole Rellum as additional vocalist they are invited to take part on the third part of the "German Mystic Sounds"-sampler series, initiated by the important German Independent-magazine 'Zillo'. Their 4-track-demo "Simple Blue" is released and introduces their sensitive WavePop impressively to the scene.
After a short "guest performance" at 'Spirit Records' DERRIÈRE LE MIROIR sign to 'Session Music Group' in 1993. This company establishes especially for the band a sub-label called 'derrière records' and releases their debut album "Alibis" in summertime.
Some chart entrys follow as well as some tv and radio appearances. In autumn the band produces the mini-album "Pregnant E.P." (which got its curious name from Nicole's pregnancy at that time) and works together with the German dancefloor-producer Enrico Zabler (e.g. Masterboy, World's Apart) and the musical actrice Melanie Wittke.
In summer 1994 they introduce their new additional vocalist Astrid Reich by the MCD "A Notion Of Light" to their audience. This song also becomes subject matter at a Spanish school.
After the second, quite melancholic album "Deep" DERRIÈRE LE MIROIR leave 'derrière records' and sign to the bigger label 'Nightshade Prod.', where they - now without Astrid again - release their most pop-orientated album so far: "Thieves & Kisses". The first bigger tour follows - and in a club in São Paulo a DLM-Special Night is celebrated.
As the band is told that 'derrière records' will be wind up, they decide to buy back the rights of their 'old' releases and to compile a subjective 'favs-of', which is released as "Selected 1992 - 1995" and which is enriched with six previously unreleased bonus-tracks as well as their first official song from the "German Mystic Sound"-compilation, "Simple Blue".
