Dilo
There are two artist under this name
1. In 1995 they started to use software trackers and the first tracks took shape. There were 2 of us then, Fermin and Santi, and Xtensions Of Mind was born. In 1997 the band performed twice live by mixing tracks obtained by mixing the output sound from 2 computers. For these performances they synchronized our music with the images projected by another computer (fractals animated by self-generated programs, based on tempo and frequency components, all in real time).
For a while they discontinued their live gigs and embarked on studio experimentation. They left tracker software to move onto a more professional hardware-based work system. In 1999 they incorporated their first synthesizers and another member joined in: Angel. From then they set off to develop a work technique based on MIDI sequencing and mixing.
At the end of 2001, Santi left the band and they changed the band's name to Dilo.
At the beginning of 2002, Jordi Aranes joins the band and Dilo begins a new project blending Fermin's and Angel's electronic music experiences with Jordi's organical influences on the arrangements and the instruments. Since then, Dilo has been searching for its own identity as a band and its own distinctive sound.
In 2004, Dilo releases Robots, its first album and publishes its music on its own web, under a Creative Commons license. In 2007, Dilo releases Screwed, its second studio album under a Creative Commons licence.
Dilo has played in several festivals and locations like: Festival Djs contra la fam (Barcelona), Festival FIRE (Zaragoza), Festival Universal (Albelda), Festinoval (Lleida) and the 18º Festival pop-rock Villa de Bilbao (Bilborock).
2. Living high among a forest of skyscrapers in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Franco Di Lorenzo (a.k.a. Dilo and Elephant Pixel) works diligently in his home studio. His musical tastes and influences include indie rock, folk, idm, abstract hip-hop, minimal techno, click and electro -- all of which are represented throughout his various music productions.
In 2003, Dilo (alongside Bruno De Vincenti a.k.a. Ivan Johnson) launched the cd label, Zensible.
In 2005, he launched his own cd & mp3 label, Igloo, a musical platform that incarnates itself through electronic music´s more innovative and versatile genres, stemming from IDM onwards to Minimal.
In 2006 Dilo was included in the compilation "Aires Buenos" (Unfoundsound15). The same year Dilo was released by the essential french label Telegraph, included in the Post Office Special Argentina Madness (tel30), a compilation that gather the new generation of experimental minimal techno from Argentina, along with Seph, Violett, Franco Cinelli, Gurtz, Funzion, Jorge Savoretti & Leonel Castillo. His music is currently released or forthcoming on his own labels, plus telegraph, unfoundsound, roman-photo, esperanza, sinergy networks, series, filtro, and others.
His live and dj sets have been heard in Argentina, Columbia, Switzerland, USA, Spain, Germany, Costa Rica & Uruguay -- playing alongside people like Akufen, Sonja Moonear, Someone else, Monolake, Plaid, Machine Drum and others.
