1. Elika formed in New York in 2005 by Evagelia Maravelias and Brian Wenckebach, Elika describe their dreamy music as “blissed-out ambience with head-nodding beats that range from Downtempo to Trance to IDM.”
They mix spacey female vocals with gauzy, textured guitars; field recordings; and crisp drum programming to create incredibly visual songs with the atmosphere of childhood and layers of detail. Describing their influences, Eva and Brian mention Slowdive, Karen Carpenter, Boards of Canada, Nico, Squarepusher and Flying Saucer Attack.
