Elle S'appelle
Elle s'appelle, French for 'She calls herself', was Andrew Donovan singing and playing bass, Lucy Blakeley singing and playing keys and Owen Cox on the drums. The noise they made has been described as sounding 'like Mates of State covering XTC and Billy Joel with occasional Freddie Mercury vocals', while the band referred to their songs as 'Hyperactive nursery rhymes'.
Elle s'appelle enjoyed tour support slots for Hot Club de Paris, Shiny Toy Guns, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Good Shoes, and The Diamond Hoo Haa Men.
Their debut single "Little Flame" with gig favourite "She Sells Sea Shells" was released on 19th November 2007 as a 7" single with Moshi Moshi Records. The elegant trio of would be brothers and their sister played all over the UK.
Influences included Mates of State, National School, The Pixies, The Research.
They split up in August 2008. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
