1) Fania All-Stars was a salsa group established in 1968 by Johnny Pacheco as a showcase for the leading musicians and singers of the record label Fania Records, the leading salsa record company of the time.

1971's Fania All Stars Live At The Cheetah volumes one and two became the biggest selling Latin albums ever produced by one group from one concert, Produced by Larry Harlow. 1975's Live at Yankee Stadium was in the second set of 50 recordings in the List of recordings preserved in the United States National Recording Registry.
Among the many salsa musicians that performed with the group were Ray Barretto, Roberto Roena, Celia Cruz, Rubén Blades, Willie Colón, Cheo Feliciano, Larry Harlow, Hector Lavoe, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, Papo Lucca, Luis "Perico" Ortiz and Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez.
As a group, Fania All-Stars outlived Fania Records, which is now owned by Emusica.
2) Fania is a singer-songwriter from Senegal who lives in Paris. She was one of the singers in the group Kaoma, famous for its 1989 hit 'Lambada'.
