Funeral in Berlin
Funeral In Berlin formed in the summer of 1992. The band was one of many that would become part of the backbone that would eventually usher in the San Francisco goth culture. Along with other local bands such as Switchblade Symphony, Xorcist, Malign, Galaxxy Chamber, Mute Agnst Envy, Shadow Project, Kill Sister Kill, Ghost like Sun, The Shore of Deprograming, Tel Basta, Communion, Anguish, and numerous others, Funeral In Berlin helped shape the music culture in the San Francisco bay area. Influences by the likes of The Cure, Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Joy Division- FIB left a path of dark and gloomy music still remembered by a small army of devoted followers to whom the band will forever be greatful to.
After drummer Alan Titus, then shortly after bassist Steve Scottorosano both stepped down, the two remaining members held the band together for several more years with the help of numerous other artists who took short stints with the band, Including bassist for ex punk legends The Authorities, Ron Coppetti and drummer Phillip Martinez, who also joined the band as drummer when Steve Scottorosano was still an active member.
Then keyboardist David Oswood also stepped down several years later leaving Vocalist\guitarist Ted Ringgold as the only remaining member. Ted continued to record new material under the Funeral in Berlin banner with the help of long time friend Randal Banyard who contributed Percussion, Keyboards, Sampling and even lead vocals to numerous late Funeral in Berlin tracks. Bassist Steve Scottorosano also returned to record bass tracks for the last Funeral in Berlin recordings.
Original member Ted Ringgold was left as the only remaining member once again by 2005 and continued to record a slew of solo recordings. At this point he dropped the Funeral in Berlin title and created his solo project under the banner of Natja Kristy.
The original members of Funeral in Berlin have not discussed any possibility of rejoining, but the possibility could present it's self some day in the future. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
