GANG PARADE
GANG PARADE is a Japanese idol group. They were formerly known as POP and Pla2me (プラニメ). Their musical style has gone through many stylistic changes since their debut, but most recently has focused on a fusion of electronic sounds with melodic punk music.
The group was initially formed in 2014 as a duo called Pla2me, consisting of former BiS member Kamiya Saki, and Mizuta Mari, who was formerly a solo artist under the name Izukoneko.
After Mizuta Mari announced her graduation from the group in May 2015, four new members were recruited and their name was changed to POP (Period of Plastic 2 Mercy). POP released the album "P.O.P" in the summer of 2015, featuring all the tracks that Saki and Mari had been performing as pla2me, as well as "pretty pretty good", a new song.
In 2016 the group announced that they would be changing their name to GANG PARADE in order to celebrate their 2nd anniversary. Their first single under this name was WE ARE the IDOL, released on July 19th.
Shigusawa Ao left the group in August 2016. The reasons that made her leave remain unclear but it seems that it was because of problems between her activities and her family.
Inukai Maaya withdrew from the group on October 1st, and was replaced by Can Maika a day later.
On October 6th, GANG PARADE welcomed three new members: Coco Partin Coco, Terashima Yuka and Yui ga Dokuson. These girls were a part of the finalists to integrate into the new generation of BiS, but stopped their activities with this group on September 26. They were members of SiS (a temporary group and the "rivals" of BiS). The three new members didn’t participate in the recording of their first album as GANG PARADE, Barely Last.
The new, 7-member formation of GANG PARADE re-released "Plastic 2 Mercy", the group's first song under the pla2me name, and quickly followed it up with the new single "FOUL", in which group founder Kamiya Saki shaved her head.
After the release of "FOUL", Kamiya Saki was removed from GANG PARADE and traded to BiS, while BiS member Aya Eightprince took her place in GANG PARADE. During this "rental" period, GANG PARADE released the single "Beyond the Mountain", and soon after, the album "GANG PARADE takes themselves higher!!", which includes re-recorded versions of "FOUL" and "Plastic 2 Mercy" without Kamiya Saki. For the first time, one of the group's members also played a part in composing the music for the album: member Yumeno Yua wrote a melody part to a demo track created by the producers, and this song became "Futsuu no Nichijou".
The final single to feature Aya Eightprince was "BREAKING THE ROAD", released in February 2018.
After an agency-wide audition in March 2018, GANG PARADE received two new members, Haruna Ba-tchiin and Tsukino Usagi. Due to events that occurred during the audition bootcamp, Can Maika's stage name was officially changed to "Can GP Maika", signifying that GANG PARADE would be a part of her forever.
This nine-member GANG PARADE lineup will release the single "GANG2" in May 2018.
