Georgina
Georgina is a Venezuelan-born Latin pop/rock singer from Spain who made her solo album debut in 2009 with Ensayo y Error. Born Georgina León in Valera, Venezuela, she began her recording career in the rock en español duo Tisuby & Georgina with fellow singer/songwriter and guitarist Tisuby González. An appearance by the duo on the Venezuelan television program Cuanto Vale el Show resulted in a recording opportunity with Líderes Entertainment Group, and Tisuby & Georgina in turn made their full-length debut with the little-heard album Sueños Simples (2001). Their second album, Ruleta del Amor (2003), recorded in Spain with producers Luca Rustici and Miguel Blasco, was a much greater success. It spawned the international hit single "Por Qué No" and earned the girls acclaim as well as a legion of fans. Tisuby & Georgina never released a third album, however, as their partnership dissolved and Georgina moved from Venezuela to Spain. Based in Madrid, she embarked on a solo career in association with Warner Music Spain. Georgina made her solo recording debut in April 2009 with the five-song Casi EP. With the exception of a cover version of Nirvana's "Lithium," the Casi songs would later be included on her full-length album debut, Ensayo y Error. Produced by Pablo Cebrián and Ismael Guijarro, the album spawned the lead single "Con Solo una Mirada" and was a minor hit on the Spanish albums chart. The Latin pop/rock style of Ensayo y Error was likened to that of Julieta Venegas and Amaral, and Georgina supported the album with a concert tour of Spain. In addition to herself on vocals and guitar, her band includes Luis Jiménez Oti (guitar), David Elorriaga (bass), Javier Martín (drums), and Pablo López de la Llave (piano). Read more on Last.fm.
