Gerardo Núñez
Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz), 1961. Guitarist. He began his apprenticeship with Rafael el Águila, and from his early days collaborated regularly with the Professorship of Flamencology. He was only fourteen years old when he accompanied such singers as Tío Gregorio el Borrico, Terremoto and others. He has recorded accompanying the cante of Turronero, Pansequito, Indio Gitano... and as a concert guitarist. In his triple roles of composer, concert guitarist and accompanier, he has performed in diverse theater shows, the most notable being ¡Ay... Jondo!, and lately in Yerma, a work for which he has created a most beautiful score. He has performed at some of the most important festivals in the world. He is one of the most skilled guitarists who has dabbled in jazz and other genres, his work being among the most convincing fusion of the jondo sound with other musical schemes. He composes enormously rich and complex music, without losing the strength of the flamenco reference, and he performs himself with the technical capacity of a real virtuoso. Some of his creations are lavishly beautiful. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
