Glaxo Babies
Glaxo Babies were formed in the winter of 1977 in Bristol, UK. The line up was Dan Catsis, guitar, Tom Nichols, Bass, Geoff Allsop, Drums and Rob Chapman vocals and lyrics. The band's influences include German bands like Can and Faust, The Velvet Underground, Captain Beefheart, William Burroughs, Dub reggae and Jazz. Read Rob Chapman's brilliant account of his time in the band which comes with the current compilation.
They started as a punk band but mutated into an experimental zone fusing funk, avant-jazz and electronica in ways that shared similarities to The Residents and The Pop Group.
See also the related bands The Pop Group (which Catsis left to join on bass), Liquid Liquid and Maximum Joy. Some of the band members later appear on some releases by Steve Bush and the Blue Aeroplanes. Read more on Last.fm.
