Grim Shit
"A musician who tries to become one of the greatest but still remains an useless f*cking shit". This is a sentence by Grim Shit to describe himself, giving a little idea of the man's personality.
Dedicating a huge part of his life to music, Grim Shit is, at first, Singer/Guitarist in various Metal bands. His main band project, Grim Angel, is influenced by all kinds of Metal, mainly Thrash, Progressive, and Death Metal. Other bands he played in were mostly inspired by Scandinavian Melodic Death/Metal bands and some Metalcore.
He has even more projects which are not established yet, but will probably come very soon.
Grim spends most of his time with his guitars, his "girlfriends" as he likes to call them, working on his technique, trying to find more riffs, more melodies and other stuff.
Inspired by a lot of guitarists like : Jimi Hendrix, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jeff Loomis, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Patrick Rondat, Jason Becker, Marty Friedman, Buckethead, Rusty Cooley, Chris Broderick, Michael Romeo, Andy James, Shawn Lane, Zakk Wylde, Dimebag Darrell, John 5........and the list goes on.
By dint of writing a loads of songs for his bands and other projects, and being inspired by bands with amazingly skilled guitar players, Grim finally decided to focus on the instrumental part of Metal music and started writing his first instrumental songs.
In 2008, he released his first instrumental album, called "Battle For Heaven", on the Internet via websites like Jamendo and Last FM. The album being pretty well received, despite the "homemade" and unprofessional aspects of it, Grim decided to keep on exploring this way of expression.
The same year he published his second album "Waltz At The End Of The World" through the same websites. This album is more melodic and uses more "samples" like choirs / voices, keyboards, strings orchestra and some industrial sounds.
All these orchestrations will become an important part of Grim Shit's music.
Going through a period of depression, partly due to his frustration with music, Grim writes the 2 hours long instrumental album "Angels Fly Above Dying Souls" (A.F.A.D.S) and publishes the album in the end of 2008. This album has a darker tone than the previous ones and the titles of the songs often deal with death and loss of hope.
Shortly after the release, Grim had a tendinitis coming from excessive practice of guitar and not taking care of himself (no rest, no warming up, not drinking enough, unhealthy food and so on...), which implied to stop playing guitar for a while.
Back in depression because of this, he felt that "To stop playing guitar is like to stop breathing".
Finally, Grim took his guitar back in 2009 and started the writing process of what was supposed to be his "last" instrumental album. During this period he also wrote songs for his E.P called "Tuning Down To Earth" containing only six songs, based on low guitar tuning.
After a year of work, in the beginning of the year 2010, Grim releases the 3 hours long album "Neutral Wings - Final Chronicles" on Jamendo (album published later on Last FM) and announces on these websites that it will be his last instrumental work (mainly because he considers that he is not skilled enough to make another one, better).
Containing 27 tracks, this is probably the most accomplished album and the most diversified, with many melodies and many rhythms in each song, which gives it a more progressive aspect.
Lately, Grim Shit bought a new 7 strings guitar and started writing new stuff for fun.
From this came "Dreams of Disorder", album hugely influenced by all the "Djent" wave coming in the Metal world.
Later, in 2012, Grim started working on new songs, declaring that he would also try to work on a better and more professional sounding production of a new album. Since then, no apparent news seemed to emerge from Mr.Shit but a new song called "Flames of Creation", uploaded on Soundcloud, give a little preview of what the next album will sound like (Information for the fans !)
His instrumental songs can be found on the Internet, including here, on Last.Fm, for the pleasure of sharing music with guitar players, musicians and music lovers.
