Gutterstylz
Raised on a diet of punk, funk, jazz, soul and opera, with ELO and Brian Eno as maternal uncles and an Oberheim OB-X for a dad, Gutterstylz was always going to be musical child. He is currently being stalked by Bruce Aisher from the band Suicide Sports Club !
Gutterstylz is progressive house producer Bruce Aisher, best known for the catchy ‘It's Gonna be...(A Lovely Day)’ produced with colleague Luke Brancaccio. Here Aisher updates his debut Gutterstylz release from last year 'Dirtbox/I Want Your Love', both of which were heavily played by DJs such as Pete Tong and Sasha and still hold up on dancefloors today.
Aisher’s 2 Thousand and Six remix of 'Dirtbox’ is clearly the better of the two, adding a deep-end progressive beat to the original synths. Chunky yet fluent drums and heavy builds and breakdowns dominate in a cut that should cross over to more mainstream audiences, but is far from commercial. Played by Hernan Cattaneo, this mix is a bass-driven, booty-shaking affair that's an ideal crowdpleaser. It’ll appeal to house DJs who like to finish with something uber-groovy yet slightly driving and progressive.
The Vocal Duke mix of ‘I Want Your Love’, although a truly kicking house track with clean cut basslines and smooth vocals, doesn't feel as though it's been touched up much from the original. Still, it’s a recipe for mid-floor movement: enticing male vocals, bouncing bongos, and a subtle techno build over the traditional but funky bassline. This one will fit nicely into the peak of your set, oozing a sexiness that makes you want to see people dancing to it – it’s an instant kick that leaves an intoxicating buzz.
