Hansson & Karlsson
Hansson & Karlsson was a swedish duo consisting of Bo Hansson (organ) and Janne "Loffe" Carlsson (drums).
The duo was active during the end of the 1960s and played instrumental jazz rock and psychedelic music. The music was much built around improvisations, and because of that their live shows varied much from show to show. The group could be said to be an early inspiration to Swedish progg rock. They met Jimi Hendrix and played with him a couple of times. Hendrix was interested in the duos music and he himself did a recording of Hansson & Karlssons composition "Tax Free". Hendrix only paid 600 Swedish crowns (80 USD) for the song. After a while the duo went separate ways. Bo made a solo career as a musician and Jan pursued an acting career.
The reason that the duo spells their name Hansson & Karlsson, even though Jan spells his last name with a C, is that a poster painter had misunderstood the duos name and wrote Karlsson with a K. Bo and Jan thought it looked good and kept the spelling.
The record Hansson & Karlsson (1998) is a collection that for some reason doesn't contain everything the duo recorded even though the material is of high class.
