Harpaxe
Harpaxe is the alter ego of Scottish hymn writer John David Coupland who uses his creation to explore the world of instrumental music. With over 40 years of composing behind him he still finds new ways to create charming and graceful music. He is influenced by The Shadows, the Beatles and by traditional Scottish folk music.
The Year Album by Harpaxe combines a neo sixties format and sound of clean electric guitar, acoustic 12 string, strings, bass and drums, with the compositional techniques of the great classical composers.
Described as, “Classical Gas meets the Shadows, ” Birdsong After Midnight is a ten track instrumental album with a laid back feel, ideal for relaxing after the day’s toil or meditating on the deeper things of life. From the slightly eerie tribute to the owl, “2 wit 2 woo,” to the jolly, “ Dance of the Pied Wagtail,” each piece evokes the songs, calls and movements of our feathered friends. The melodies are written in the style of the great composers of the classical and romantic eras played on a guitar made by the Ibanez guitar company over a soft rock backing comprising 12 string guitar, bass, drums and keys.
GIGS; Harpaxe is strictly a studio creation and does not do live gigs.
