Hayley Jensen
Hayley Jensen (née Thomas) (born January 7, 1983) was thrust into celebrity status after appearing on the second season (2004) of television ratings hit show Australian Idol, on Network Ten. She was the fourth finalist, leaving the show on November 1.
Hayley was born in Albury, New South Wales, but has lived in Canberra for most of her life. Before entering the Australian Idol competition she was a university student at University of Canberra studying Economics and Management. She married her husband Tim in January 2004.
After being turned back from her first audition, performing Christina Aguilera's "The Voice Within", in her hometown of Canberra—denied by Idol judges Ian "Dicko" Dickson and Mark Holden, voted "yes" by Marcia Hines—she travelled to Sydney to try again. This time Mark Holden changed his mind and agreed to give her a chance to perform in the first round of Australian Idol in Sydney.
During the first round she performed Sarah McLachlan's "Angel", thought by many of her fans to be one of her best performances in the competition. This performance resulted in the viewing public voting her into the Final 12. Also put through to the Final 12 from her group of ten, were Courtney Murphy and Chanel Cole, with the popular Ngaiire Joseph considered unlucky to miss out.
Hayley has provided support for Jenny Morris, Michael Spiby and Christine Anu.
She also visited Iraq in 2005 joining Angry Anderson, Beccy Cole, Bessie Bardot and former Vietnam-era performer “Little Pattie” in the fourth morale-boosting “Tour de Force” concert tour for Australia’s soldiers, sailors, airmen and women based in the Middle East.
Hayley's next single will be 'Waste Away', from her debut album Note to Self. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
