High Rise
There are two bands with this name:
1) Psychedelic acid rock-band from Japan. High Rise is an explosive power trio comprised of bassist/vocalist asahito nanjo (南条麻人), guitarist Munehiro Narita, and a succession of drummers that has included Yuro Ujiie and Pill in the past and free-improv veteran Shoji Hano at present. High Rise mixes the jazz-influenced improvising of Cream with the brutal amphetamine-inspired rock of Blue Cheer. Narita is one of rock’s unsung guitar players, and his dexterous fingering incites eruptions of pure electric joy in his listeners. The other players are equally stunning in their total commitment to this high energy music that features the freedom of jazz and the power of rock. All four High Rise records on Squealer originally appeared on P.S.F. Records, a Japanese label that has explored the dark ends of the free noise and heavy rock spectrum, also releasing albums by Keiji Haino, Borbetomagus, Kan Mikami, Fushitsusha (不失者), and many others. Many of the previous members of this band moved on to start another project titled Mainliner.
2) Determined to be more than just your average local band High Rise started in a Subway in London in April 2011. Born out of the ashes of local surrey band Your Time Is Mine, High Rise are an exciting new band emerging and making a name for themselves from London. Having previously supported Madina Lake in said band and with a brand new lineup the band are hoping to prove themselves by playing gigs ...religously and bringing a high energy performance to each and everyone of their live shows. Though they have only been together a short space of time they have already established themselves as local favourites and have also been the main support for Exit Ten. They have also played with other well established bands such as Giants, Evita, Francesqa and performed at established venues such as the O2 Academy Islington. Read more on Last.fm.
