Hodges
Hailing from Forth Worth, Texas (later a Los Angeles transplant), Hodges is an emerging singer/songwriter who has found a musical home amongst those who try and tell a story through song. Fellow songwriter Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty recognized this when he recently signed Hodges to his RTel imprint on Epic Records.
"My influences are really the artists who know how to take the universal themes of songwriting and make them their own.” It’s this self proclaimed ethos that inspires Hodges to write timeless songs that make their mark on all genres of music. Hodges sites a wide range of influences, running the gamut from Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty to U2 and Peter Gabriel.
Hodges is beginning to make his mark with his latest single “Blink of an Eye,” a rumination on love lost. The song is a perfect vehicle for Hodges to draw people in with the intimacy of a ballad while making them move with infectious rock hooks. The multifaceted dimensions to each song he writes are only enhanced during Hodges intense and interactive live shows. Emotion and musicianship have never been in such a harmonious balance. Hodges attributes his vocal strength to his mother, a former RCA Records recording artist. His undeniable ability to craft a melody stems from his father, a Julliard-trained musician, who taught Hodges the importance of sound songwriting.
Hodges is in the process of recording his debut album to be released in 2008 with producer Rick Parasher (Pearl Jam, 3 Doors Down). Entitled My Side of the Story, the album features (in addition to “Blink of an Eye”) songs such as the introspective title track and the classic rocker “Show Me How it Feels.” With his grassroots sound, soulful lyrics, commanding stage presence, and down-to-earth persona Hodges is starting to set himself apart as a new breed of singer/songwriter.
