Impressions of Winter
"I would like to create a kind of music, which could be understood as a journey through space and time" ... - such was Joe P.'s high intention when he formed his [Dead Can Dance-inspired] solo-project Impressions Of Winter. Because of his high demands on his compositions, friends of his began to realise that his music was far too good not to include vocals. So Joe started searching for an adequate singer, other artists joined in and Impressions Of Winter became a band ... - and their music turned into a mixture of Neo-classic and World-music.
Their debut "Cantica Lunae - Songs of the Moon" received positive notice, its follow-up "Deceptive Springs and Fading Landscapes" of the year 1998 (meanwhile with a new singer) strengthened their reputation as a independent band creating multi-layered songs, as it proved their musical and personal development as being artists. With the album "Iuturna", released in 2001, they eventually managed to join the premiere league of bands of genre of electronic music outside the EBM- and Industrial-brutality, as this album was a lot more compact and homogeneous than its predecessor, allowing the listener's soul to grow.
With their current CD "The RemiXperience" the band takes a slightly different retrospect on their work, as their greatest hits had been re-mixed for this occasion, gaining a more club-orientated shape, yet without becoming unrecognisable. For fans of Impressions Of Winter the album is a rather joyful, interesting experience (not only because of the atmospheric bonus-track) ... - for everyone else it is an invitation to get to know this band.
Covers and booklets of the albums are always visually delightful, their extravagant design forms a unit with the music and makes it all a true experience.
The bands last release was issued in 2003 was "End of a Summer"
