Intense Hammer Rage
Burnie, Tasmanian trio INTENSE HAMMER RAGE go all out to shock with their brand of gut churning Grindcore. The band themselves subtly describe their own particular brand of Death Metal as "Putridfoulfesteringdeathgrindcuntcore". INTENSE HAMMER RAGE announced their arrival with a 1995 tape ‘The 24cm Makita Brand Circular Saw’ capitalized on by the following years ‘Massive Sphinkta Release’. Although a quartet at this stage the band would dispense with their vocalist, for reasons as the band put it succinctly of being "lazy, whining, so called vocalist".
1998 witnessed INTENSE HAMMER RAGE’s debut CD ‘Devogrindporngorecoreaphile’. With the expected obscene cover artwork the album swiftly sold out of its first production run. American label Extremist Records would re-issue the record as half of a shared release with DROGHEDA.
Further recordings resulted in the ‘Gory B’ eight song session released on cassette in Japan by Obliteration Records. The band, utilizing their subtly titled own label Slut Kunting Whore Productions, would later issue it on CD. A Spanish label, Flesh Feast Productions, would also pick up ‘Gory B’ pairing it for CD release with the ‘Massive Sphinkta Release’ demo.
American label Razorback put out the 2001 album ‘Avagoyamugs’ but the extreme lyrical content of this work resulted in an immediate ban in Australia. So keen were the authorities to censor the product that band members would later be prosecuted and fined for importing the album as a prohibited product. Split singles in collaboration with ENGORGED and N.V.E. were also planned for 2001. A former INTENSE HAMMER RAGE singer, Craig 'Spills' Spilsbury, later turned up as frontman for CRANIAL DEVOURMENT.
