JBJ
JBJ (Hangul: 제이비제이), also known as Just Be Joyful, was a South Korean project boy group under Fave Entertainment, consisting of six members who previously participated in the 2017 reality show Produce 101 Season 2. The members of the group are Taehyun, Kenta, Sangyun, Longguo, Hyunbin and Donghan. Member Taedong is currently in a lawsuit with his company and is not confirmed. He most likely might not join while the group is active.
CJ E&M Entertainment oversees the group's release production. Their contracts will last for about seven months after debuting in October and they most likely won't be permanent, as both Taehyun and Sanggyun have their respective groups (HOTSHOT and TOPP DOGG), while Yongguk previously debuted in Choon's pre-debut unit, 용국&시현.
In April 2017, Mnet aired the first episode of its new survival show Produce 101 Season 2, where 101 male trainees from various South Korean entertainment companies competed to debut in an 11-member boy group that would promote for two years under YMC Entertainment. The show ended on June 16, and Wanna One was formed. On the same day, fans of the show had named Takada Kenta of Star Road Entertainment, Kim Yongguk of Choon Entertainment, Kim Sanggyun of Hunus Entertainment (also known as ToppDogg's A-Tom), and Kim Taedong of The Vibe Label as eliminated trainees whom they would like to debut together as a group, as an equivalent to season one's I.B.I. The fans tentatively named the group as JBJ, which is short for "Just Be Joyful". Roh Tae-hyun of Ardor and Able/Star Crew Entertainment (also known as a member from Hotshot), Kim Donghan of Oui Entertainment, and Kwon Hyunbin of YGKPlus were added in the fan-imagined group after the Instagram photo that Tae-hyun had posted received positive feedback from the fans.
Discussions to officially form and debut JBJ began around early July 2017 between the seven tentative members and their respective agencies. CJ E&M and LOEN Entertainment were also part of the discussions as the companies that would manage the group's releases and activities, respectively. Fave Entertainment, a subsidiary of LOEN Entertainment, was tasked to be the group's official agency. On July 25, the trainees and the companies had reached an agreement. It was reported that the group's contract would only be seven months long, but LOEN Entertainment expressed that they are open for any discussions to extend the group's contract. JBJ was tentatively scheduled for debut on September 10 with all seven members, but was later confirmed for debut on October 18 without Taedong.
Taedong's participation in the group was not confirmed because of an ongoing conflict with his agency The Vibe Label. On July 27, Taedong had sent his agency certification of contents and requested for his contract be terminated. Since then, the involved parties, including CJ E&M and LOEN Entertainment, have had numerous meetings to resolve the conflict but have yet to reach an agreement.
On October 17, 2017, JBJ released their first extended play Fantasy. The title track "Fantasy" peaked at 23 on the Gaon Music Chart. The release of this album allowed JBJ to win the Rising Star Award at the Asia Artist Awards. Read more on Last.fm.
